Members of Green Light’s management team and Positive Behaviour Support team today welcomed Jon Gibbons and Siobhan Menhennett who were successful in their application to become Behaviour Technicians.
Prior to becoming Behaviour Technicians Jon and Siobhan were well respected Senior Support Workers with Green Light, with valuable experience of working closely with our PBS team on specific person-centred goals.
The Behaviour Technician role involves:
- Theoretical training specifically adapted for adult social care provision
- Specialist supervision from a behaviour analyst, and then
- A competence assessment in specific areas related to the role.
After all this, competent Behaviour Technician’s are eligible to sit an exam to become Registered Behaviour Technicians, an internationally recognised paraprofessional role found in behaviour analytic services worldwide, but still rare in the UK.
Green Light’s Behaviour Technicians will work within teams on specific areas of identified need; developing self-help, social or communication skills that improves safety, well being, independence or quality of life. Behaviour Technicians are coached and supervised by Behaviour Analysts. Our experienced Registered Managers provide line management support and supervision too.
As a new role in adult social care and only launched at Green Light in June 2022, Green Light’s Registered Managers are being included in Behaviour Technician training sessions, so they can understand the role and how the knowledge and skills being developed by their colleagues might be facilitated in practice to benefit those in their care.
If you are interested in joining Green Light to gain the experience you need to become a Behaviour Technician speak to a member of our recruitment team or follow our social media for notifications of openings.
