Green Light provides care and support to individuals with learning disability and autism from registered care homes in Cornwall.  Huthnance Park, a home for four individuals with learning disabilities, is conveniently located a short drive from Leedstown, Praze, Camborne, Hayle, Helston, and Penzance. (Exact location here)

The team is led by Helen Kendall, who joined Green Light in October 2014 as a Support Worker and progressed to become the Registered Manager. Helen is supported by deputy managers Nichola Watson and Kathryn Roberts, along with a dedicated team of support workers.

“The Huthnance team faces unique challenges in their roles, as the individuals they support, like many autistic people, tend to be fearful or avoidant of new activities, experiences, and change. To overcome this, the team works closely and gradually over extended periods of time to build coping skills and broaden people’s horizons, thereby improving their quality of life. This approach has enabled individuals to access vital healthcare, enjoy new activities and experiences, and partake in experiences most take for granted.”

The individuals supported by the team, three gentlemen and a lady, each have their own self-contained apartment personalised to their tastes and needs, as well as spacious gardens for summer gatherings, barbecues, and birthday celebrations organised by the team. (An 80’s themed party is currently in the works!)

We would welcome applications from those interested in joining the team as Support Worker or Senior Support Worker or Relief Support Worker. Previous experience with learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviour would be advantageous, but applicants with no prior experience are also encouraged to apply, as a comprehensive training and induction program is provided to all successful candidates as well as support from Helen and the team.
