Reflecting on our First BILD ACT 3-Year Review
I’m really pleased to share that Green Light PBS Ltd has now successfully completed our first three-year review with the BILD Association of Certified Training (BILD ACT).
This review is an important milestone for us as it reflects the standards we uphold in line with the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards. At its heart, this is about ensuring that restrictive practices are always a true last resort, while promoting prevention, de-escalation, and above all, respect for the dignity and rights of the people we support.
The Review Journey
The three-year review is a thorough process. It looks closely at how we design and deliver training internally, how we keep governance strong, and how we continue to improve year on year. Far from being just a compliance exercise, it gave us a chance to pause and reflect—on how far we’ve come as a team, what we’re doing well, and where we can keep growing. It was reassuring to see that the way we’ve developed our training is not only meeting the RRN standards but also making a real, practical difference across our services for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
Growing Our Team of Trainers
One of the most exciting steps this year has been completing our very first “train the trainer” physical intervention training programme. With a ‘change of scope’ agreed by BILD and lots of preparation behind the scenes, we were able to put everything in place to support this move. As a result, we now have two new trainers on our team. This feels like such a positive step forward—not only does it give us greater capacity and resilience in delivering training internally, but it also strengthens the culture of learning and support within Green Light.
A Word of Thanks
I want to take a moment to thank our trainer team. Their commitment, skill, and passion are what make our training meaningful and impactful. They bring the standards to life in a way that makes sense for our colleagues and, ultimately, helps create safer, more supportive environments for the people we work with.
I’m also grateful to BILD ACT for guiding us through the review and supporting our change of scope. Their feedback and partnership have been invaluable.
Looking Ahead
Completing this first three-year review feels like both a milestone and a springboard. It reaffirms the good work that’s happening, and it motivates us to keep learning, improving, and growing together. With an expanded training team and a strong foundation in place, I’m excited about what comes next—for us as trainers, for our colleagues across Green Light, and most importantly, for the people we support every day.
