Congratulations to Behaviour Analyst Chloe Brindley, who has been awarded a Specialist Certificate in Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM) by ABA Technologies Inc. This intensive training covered the five elements of the SPACE model: Scope, Pinpoint, Assess, Change, and Embed which provides the tools to help teams navigate the application of OBM and communicate this in a way that is easily understood.
Chloe has been applying her learning with colleagues in her role as a Behaviour Analyst supporting Green Light’s teams who provide 24/7 support to adults with learning disabilities and autism in Cornwall, UK.
“In terms of the work that I have been doing at Huthnance Park, we have started by looking at what we need to work on, identifying and establishing opportunities. Working closely with the managers and team we worked on pinpointing very specific behaviours to improve. Once pinpointed, we looked at these behaviours in order of priority. Together we identified that an important place to start was the quality of shadow shifts provided to new starters following induction, so we looked at ways to up-skill experienced team members who would be able to model care and support plans and induct new team members. The aim being to ensure they are equipped with the tools they need to effectively model and provide feedback to their colleagues. The team responded really well to this systematic way of approaching things.”
Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM) is a sub-field of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) used in a wide range of settings. It applies behavioural principles, learning theory, and approaches to enhance individual and collective performance. By utilising a data-driven approach, OBM can help identify and solve the challenges that can arise in workplaces, and by making changes in the environment, positive change can be brought about.
