Meet Charlotte Tucker: Manager of The Mews

We’re thrilled to introduce you to another invaluable member of the Green Light team, Charlotte Tucker!

Charlotte joined Green Light in January 2025 as a Manager, overseeing our dedicated Green Light Go service at The Mews. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the autism and learning disability community to her role, stemming from a career that spans numerous support and leadership positions in the health and social care sector.

Why Charlotte Chose Green Light

Charlotte, who hails from St. Columb, heard about Green Light after meeting Jo Pyrah, professionally, and also through friends who not only worked within the organisation but were also seeking support for loved ones.

When asked why she decided to join us, Charlotte shared, “I chose to join Green Light because I had heard great things about its positive developments and the opportunities available. The company’s values and direction resonate with my professional aspirations, and after my experience in my previous role, I was eager to contribute to a more supportive and dynamic environment.”

Charlotte’s Journey and Experience

Charlotte’s journey in this field began in 2007 as a support worker with an organisation similar to Green Light, supporting individuals with autism and learning disabilities. Since then, her career has taken many different paths, each offering new learning experiences and opportunities for growth. She has also pursued further studies, which ultimately led her back to her true passion: supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

Over the years, Charlotte has had the privilege of working in both residential and supported living services, supporting people across a wide range of ages and needs. She emphasizes that “Every person I’ve worked with has shaped my understanding and approach, teaching me invaluable lessons in empathy, patience, and resilience.” She describes her roles managing services for individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Mental Health conditions as “some of the most fulfilling and rewarding years of my career,” deepening her professional knowledge and reinforcing her belief in the power of meaningful, person-centred support.

Beyond the Professional

Outside of her impactful work, Charlotte has a passion for photography and is currently learning to play the piano.

When she’s not working, you’ll most likely find Charlotte making memories with her family. She describes herself as someone who “does not like sitting still,” so she’s always doing something! She loves visiting beaches and new places across Cornwall, often with her miniature Dachshund in tow, as they seek out dog-friendly spots.

Charlotte has an inspiring bucket list that includes running the London Marathon, visiting Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower, tackling the Tuff Enuff challenge, learning another language fluently, learning to surf (or at least catching one wave standing up!), learning to play an instrument, seeing the Northern Lights, going back to university for her degree, and travelling Europe in a van with her family.

And her heroine? Audrey Hepburn! Charlotte explains that Audrey’s legacy goes beyond her remarkable acting and iconic fashion sense, exemplifying grace, kindness, and resilience. She highlights Audrey’s dedication to humanitarian work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, advocating for vulnerable children and modeling a life of compassion and selflessness.

Finally, when asked to sum up her personality in three words, Charlotte chose Patient, Kind, and Resilient. These qualities are deeply valued at Green Light, and we are confident they will make her an invaluable asset to our team.

The Mews: A New Chapter in Independent Living

Charlotte’s expertise will be crucial in leading The Mews, a new development of seven homes. The Mews is ideally situated on the edge of Goonhavern, a popular Cornish village with excellent local amenities and transport links, and close to Newquay, Perranporth, and Truro.

The Mews

These homes are designed for modern, independent living, featuring economical air source heat pumps, superior insulation, and ‘full-fibre to the home’ internet. Each property also boasts two private car parking spaces (with electric charging points) and a private lawned garden with a patio.

At The Mews, Charlotte leads our Green Light Go team, which operates from a dedicated on-site staff home.  This team provides tailored, enabling support, closely collaborating with our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) team of Behaviour Analysts and Behaviour Technicians. This unique, integrated approach focuses on developing essential independent living, social, and coping skills, aiming to enhance each person’s quality of life and foster increasing independence over time. Charlotte’s leadership will ensure The Mews sets a new standard for supportive and truly independent living for adults with learning disabilities and autism.

We’re thrilled to have Charlotte’s expertise behind the care and support being provided to tenants of The Mews.
