I’m pleased to share Green Light’s first formal Annual Family Survey, conducted this June-July. For fifteen years, our mission has been to empower individuals with learning disabilities and autism in Cornwall to achieve a lifestyle they are proud of. As many of the individuals we support have significant communication difficulties associated with their condition, we rely on their families as key partners for their views. This comprehensive survey gathered feedback across the following domains:
- Communication & Involvement: How well families are informed, involved in care planning, and experience openness in provider relationships.
- Quality of Life & Support: The individual’s daily experience, well being, staff relationships, and how support aligns with personal needs.
- Planning, Feedback & Co-Production: Opportunities for family input, how feedback is received and acted on, and satisfaction with leadership.
- Overall Satisfaction: A global satisfaction rating inviting open-ended feedback.
Feedback was heartening, with an average “Overall Satisfaction” score of 4.76/5.00. Families consistently praised communication and the respectful relationships that exist with team members. Their comments offer evidence that our core values – empathy, empowerment, and integrity – are being felt in practice; positively influencing interactions.
The survey also provided clear insights for further growth, highlighting opportunities like enhancing support for external friendships, diversifying activities, and further optimising communication. This feedback will be useful for our management team in supporting continuous learning and improvement. For transparency and accountability, findings are available, with consent, for inspections by the Care Quality Commission and Local Authority Quality Assurance Team.
My sincere thanks to all respondents for sharing their views this year.
To my colleagues and fellow team members, thank you for your kindness, creativity, and professionalism, all of which are strongly reflected in the survey findings. Your dedication to embracing feedback and continuously improving truly enables us to support individuals in leading fulfilling and enriched lives in Cornwall.
Thank you,
Jo Pyrah
