Meet the Team – Holly Shrubb

In January 2025, Holly Shrubb relocated to Cornwall and joined the Green Light team. Keen to apply her strong interpersonal skills in a new context, Holly transitioned from her previous career in hairdressing to the Health and Social Care sector.  Holly’s desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives led her to the role of support worker, where she could utilise her compassionate nature and continue to provide empathetic care to those in need.  Holly is now part of the Big Wig team in the popular seaside resort of Holywell Bay which is home to three people with learning disabilities and autism.

Q: Where are you from and where do you live now?

A: I’m from Essex and now live in Newquay.

Q: How did you hear about Green Light?

A: I first saw an Indeed advert, and then a client of mine suggested I apply.

Q: Why did you decide to work for Green Light?

A: Through my client, I had heard the training was good and the support for all staff was fantastic.

Q: What is your previous experience of autism or learning disabilities?

A: Zero up until now. I have been a hairdresser for my entire working career, so I’m really keen to learn about my new role.

Q: Do you have any special skills, hobbies, or interests?

A: Hairdressing! I am a people person and really enjoy walking and socialising.

Q: When not working, what are you most likely to be doing?

A: Paddleboarding, walking, and socialising with friends and family.

Q: What do you have on your bucket list?

A: I would love to visit South America and climb a few mountains around the world.

Q: Who is your hero or heroine & why?

A: My mum! She was really hard-working and had an amazing career in care, ending up as regional management. She worked really hard, not always finding it easy, so has been a real role model for me.

Q: What three words sum up your personality?

A: Laid-back, caring, and empathetic.
