Meet the Team – Gemma Richards

Registered Manager Gemma Richards joined Green Light early 2019 after 14 years with another care provider supporting adults with autism, learning disabilities and other complex needs.  As well as her experience as a Registered Manager Gemma is an experienced Health & Social Care assessor in Leadership and Management.  She now leads the Trevelthan team in Illogan. 

Q: Where are you from and where do you live now?

A: I am from Cornwall and have always lived here apart from the time I was at University.  I love it and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else!

Q: How did you hear about Green Light ?

A: My husband and lots of my friends worked for Green Light.

Q: Why did you decide to work for Green Light?

A: I had been a Registered Manager before for another company and wanted to go back into this role and felt Green Light was the right company for me.

Q: What is your previous experience of autism or learning disabilities?

A: I have worked with people with autism and learning disabilities since 2006.  All of the individuals that I have supported have been so unique and I have learnt so much from them all.

Q: Do you have any special skills/hobbies or interests?

A: I love singing and reading. I would love to learn how to crochet but haven’t got around to it yet!

Q: When not working what are you most likely to be doing?

A: Spending time with my family and being in the outdoors – walks and trips to the beach.

Q: What do you have on your bucket list?

A: Definitely want to travel more and see more places in this country as there are so many beautiful places to see.

Q: What three words sum up your personality?

A: Empathetic, reflective and hardworking
