Meet the Team – Claire Pipkin

Registered Manager Claire Pipkin joined Green Light in October 2014 from ‘Poppins‘ Cornwall Council’s short break service for children with autism and learning disabilities.  Claire led a number of transition for individuals joining Green Light and worked alongside a number of Green Light’s management team.  She now leads the Thornbury team who support two individuals with autism in the Redruth area. 

Q: Where are you from and where do you live now?

A: Born in Cornwall and don’t plan on leaving!

Q: How did you hear about Green Light ?

A: From working with children transitioning into Green Light

Q: Why did you decide to work for Green Light ?

A: Their ethos and values resonated with me.

Q: What is your previous experience of autism or learning disabilities?

A: I have supported adults and children with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour since 2011. 

Q: Do you have any special skills/hobbies or interests?

A: I’m the Uno Champion of Thornbury 2020

Q: When not working what are you most likely to be doing?

A: Spending time with my daughter, reading, exploring somewhere new or cycling. 

Q: What do you have on your bucket list?

A: To visit Chernobyl & the Anne Frank museum

Q: Who is your hero or heroine & why?

A: She would kill me for saying it, but my mum.  She has a deep internal strength that gets her through everything.

Q: What three words sum up your personality?

A: Determined, funny and intuitive
