Meet the team – Cameron Blake
Psychology graduate Cameron Blake joined Green Light in May 2021. Cameron joined the Springfield team led by Registered Manager Tommy Tangye. The team support three adults with autism and learning disabilities from the home near Perranporth. The home has been adapted into self-contained apartments for each of the three individuals living at the home.
Q: Where are you from and where do you live now?
A: I’m originally from Crewe and now live in Newquay.
Q: How did you hear about Green Light ?
A: I initially heard about Green Light through my partner, I then began following the Facebook page.
Q: Why did you decide to work for Green Light ?
A: I decided to work for Green Light as I found their aims of enriching peoples lives and helping them to live a life they are proud of, to be one that I would like to play a part in. I also found the Applied Behaviour Analysis module at university extremely interesting and loved that Green Light use these methods in practice to improve lives.
Q: What is your previous experience of autism or learning disabilities?
A: I have had no first hand experience of autism or learning disabilities, however I did study Psychology at university where we learned about autism in our Applied Behaviour Analysis module.
Q: Do you have any special skills/hobbies or interests?
A: I enjoy going to the beach for walks. I love music both listening to and playing. I also enjoy watching films, football and boxing.
Q: When not working what are you most likely to be doing?
A: When I’m not working I will most likely be walking along a beach with a coffee.
Q: What do you have on your bucket list?
A: I would love to go to visit countries such as America, Australia and Italy.
Q: Who is your hero or heroine & why?
A: My hero would probably be Muhammad Ali, because he stuck to his principles even when his views did not conform to what others believed.
Q: What three words sum up your personality?
A: calm, optimistic, compassionate.
