Congratulations Jasmin Coles Registered Behaviour Technician

Congratulations from all at Green Light to Jasmin Coles!

Jasmin passed her exam on 23rd July 2024 to become Green Light’s fourth Registered Behaviour Technician. Jasmin joined Green Light as a Behaviour Technician in June 2023 after completing a Degree in Psychology at the University of Plymouth, following her A Level studies in Psychology, Sociology, and Media at Camborne Science and International Academy.

At University Jasmin’s dissertation project focused on automated functional imagery training to ease anxiety and increase motivation for behavioural change. She worked with individuals to increase motivation, self-efficacy, and achievable behaviours that they could practice in situations that would normally result in anxious feelings.  Since joining Green Light last year Jasmin has been building on her prior learning and insights while completing training to become a Registered Behaviour Technician.  This involves behavioural theory, measurement and assessment of behaviour, skills teaching, behaviour reduction, data collection, and ethical and professional conduct.

Jasmin has worked with a range of people with learning disabilities and autism, supported by our teams in small homes in Cornwall, where she has practised the skills needed to demonstrate competence, under the guidance of her supervisor, Chloe Brindley, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and UKBA(cert).  Earlier this week Jasmin flew from Newquay Airport to London to take the exam after being signed off by Chloe Brindley, as fully competent in all the primary competency areas stipulated by  governing body, the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board.

The role of an Registered Behaviour Technician will be of interest to those considering a career in psychology (e.g. psychology assistant) but may not be aware of, or have considered, the lesser-known but steadily growing field of behaviour analysis.  The Behaviour Technician role provides the opportunity to receive specialist training, coaching and supervision from behaviour analysts, while working with Green Light’s teams, providing quality care and support to people with learning disabilities and autism.  As an RBT you can be part of a team providing individualised, practical support to people, so they can overcome any barriers they may face in having a good quality of life.
